S4BT launches a mobile Wallet for hotel payments, developed by Trevium in partnership with Pliant

Available globally to S4BT clients using Pliant-issued virtual cards, the new capability adds a secure and convenient mobile payment option while preserving existing hotel payment and reconciliation processes.

Berlin and Paris, 2 November 2026 – Virtual cards have transformed how companies pay for hotels, but the traveller experience has barely changed. In most booking flows, a virtual card is generated behind the scenes and sent directly to the hotel. While this model provides an effective and secure way to manage central payment, the traveller does not hold the card or have direct access to the authorised payment method.

The experience can become more fragmented when payment is split. Room and breakfast may be covered centrally, while additional services may need to be paid at the hotel. This can leave the traveller using a personal card and submitting an expense claim afterwards. It can also create additional work for travel and finance teams, particularly when booking, payment and reconciliation are managed across separate systems.

To bridge the gap between centralised payment and the experience at the hotel, S4BT – Solutions for Business Travel is launching a new mobile Wallet developed by Trevium, its finance technology brand, in partnership with modular B2B payments platform Pliant. The capability gives travellers convenient and secure access to an authorised virtual card on their smartphones, while preserving the controls and processes companies already rely on.

One day before check-in, the traveller receives a pre-arrival message containing a secure link. By following the link, they can add the virtual card associated with their booking to a compatible mobile wallet and use it at the hotel with tap-to-pay.

Access is browser-based, so travellers do not need to download, install or activate an additional app. This makes the Wallet easier for corporate clients and TMCs to introduce, while keeping the experience simple for travellers.

“Business travellers are used to paying with their smartphones every day. An authorised hotel payment should be just as simple. With the Wallet, the authorised virtual card is available directly on the traveller’s phone before arrival, bringing the convenience of mobile payment to managed travel while preserving the control, security and expert support companies rely on,” said Christopher Hecht, CEO of Trevium and Global Payment Solutions Officer at S4BT.

A better traveller experience, built on existing processes and support

The Wallet sits alongside S4BT’s existing payment and booking security processes and customer support services. Enabling the Wallet requires two focused changes. Virtual card generation is routed through the Trevium Payment API, while the associated booking data is sent to the Trevium Booking API. Pliant remains the underlying card provider, so hotels continue to receive booking and virtual card information through the established process, while finance teams continue to use the same statement files for reconciliation.

The integration supports both common payment models. In the direct model, one virtual card is generated and the booking and card details continue to be sent directly to the hotel. In the split-payment model, two virtual cards are generated: one for room and breakfast, and another for additional services. The first card follows the usual hotel payment flow, while the additional-services card is made available in the traveller’s mobile wallet.

For any card available through the Wallet, the hotel and the traveller draw on the same authorised balance. An amount charged through one channel is no longer available through the other, helping to prevent duplicate payments. This preserves the company’s control over authorised spend and reduces the need for travellers to use a personal card and claim the expense afterwards.

The next step in the Trevium-Pliant partnership

The Wallet is the second innovation to emerge from the partnership between Trevium and Pliant, following the launch of Guaranteed Transaction Enrichment in July 2026. The two capabilities address complementary stages of the hotel payment journey: Guaranteed Transaction Enrichment ensures finance teams receive complete and validated transaction data before billing begins, while the Wallet introduces a new way for travellers to access and use authorised virtual cards at the hotel. Together these solutions address both the payment experience and the financial processes that follow, demonstrating Trevium’s ability to innovate across the complete payment journey.

“Together with Trevium, we are delivering practical improvements for business travel. Following Guaranteed Transaction Enrichment, the Wallet brings that work to the point of stay, combining Pliant’s payment infrastructure with Trevium’s expertise in hotel payment processes,” said Lukas Gottschick, Chief Commercial Officer at Pliant.
